Mission
experience
My journey in the helping profession began approximately 13 years ago when I started working as a behavioral rehabilitation specialist for a short term substance abuse treatment facility in my local tri-state area. Following that, I obtained two degrees from Ohio University - an Associate in Arts and Sciences with A Social Science Emphasis, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After this experience, I worked for approximately 7 years at another local community mental health facility where I obtained experience with a variety of levels of care and populations. While doing this, I completed a Master of Education in Counseling and Human Development with an emphasis in Mental Health Counseling from Lindsey Wilson College in Kentucky. Those experiences helped me prepare to become CEO and primary therapist of my own practice, Soul Oasis Counseling and Psychotherapy Services, and I am so grateful to be able to continue offering services for our amazing community and my fellow Ohioans.
Treatment Focus
I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy that encompasses Person-centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, trauma-informed care and other evidenced-based practices. What we implement depends upon each unique individual, their needs, and the issues that bring them to counseling.
Patient Promise
Empathy, non-judgement, advocacy and being an ally to my clients are all values that I hold in high esteem. I strive to foster warmth and support for individuals in therapy by holding space for them to process difficult emotions and circumstances, and helping them to find new, healthier means of coping.
